How to delete the contents of the Temporary Internet Files folder

This article describes how to permanently remove the contents of the Temporary Internet Files folder from your computer. Watch a video about how to delete the contents of the Temporary Internet Files folder yourself. 




Follow these steps according to your version of Windows.
Windows 8.1
  1. Start > then click on Control Panel > select Internet Options. 
  2. Select the General tab, and then select Delete under Browsing history.
  3. Select Delete all > Yes OK.
  4. Now the contents of the Temperory internet Files on windows 8.1 will be deleted.

 Windows 7 and Windows Vista
  1.  Select Start > click  Control Panel > Network and Internet > Internet Options.
  2. Select the General tab, and then select Delete under Browsing history.
  3. Select Delete all > Yes > OK
  4. Now the contents of the Temperory internet Files on Windows 7 and Windows Vista will be deleted.

 Windows XP
  1. Exit Internet Explorer.
  2. Exit any instances of Windows Explorer.
  3. Select Start > Control Panel, and then double-click Internet Options.
  4. On the General tab, select Delete Files under Temporary Internet Files.
  5. In the Delete Files dialog box, click to select the Delete all offline content check box.
  6. Select OK two times. 
  7. Now the contents of the Temperory internet Files on Windows XP and Windows Vista will be deleted.
